This project aims in understanding the vertical structure of wind gusts within the atmospheric boundary-layer over different surface types and under different weather conditions. The project focuses on the following three aspects:
1) Understanding the vertical structure of wind gusts at heights relevant for wind energy.
2) Developement of wind gust parameterizations to be used in numerical weather prediction models.
3) Understanding the effect of sea ice and leads on gusts, both in the Baltic sea and in the Arctic.
